Many happy kaomoji raise their arms with characters from other scripts. In ٩(◕‿◕)۶ the arms are ٩ (U+0669 ARABIC-INDIC DIGIT NINE) and ۶ (U+06F6 EXTENDED ARABIC-INDIC DIGIT SIX). They're digits, so they don't change the reading direction the way Arabic letters would.
