One character or two?
ú is a single character, U+00FA LATIN SMALL LETTER U WITH ACUTE. Unicode can also build it from two: the plain letter u followed by U+0301 COMBINING ACUTE ACCENT. Both forms are canonically equivalent, so they're meant to look and behave the same, but in code the first is one code point and the second is 2. That's why a character count can say 2 for something that looks like one letter.
