Where the arrows come from

The arrows here are every character in Unicode's Arrows block plus the long arrows of Supplemental Arrows-A and the heavy arrows of the Dingbats block. Simple arrows like → (U+2192 RIGHTWARDS ARROW) have been in Unicode since Unicode 1.1 (1993).

Arrows with Windows Alt codes

Four arrows have classic Alt codes from the old IBM PC character set: ↑ Alt+24, ↓ Alt+25, → Alt+26 and ← Alt+27.

Frequently asked questions

How do I type an arrow on the keyboard?

On Windows, hold Alt and type 26 on the numeric keypad for →, 27 for ←, 24 for ↑ and 25 for ↓. In HTML, use →, ←, ↑ and ↓.
